Does Your Signage Need to be Laminated?
Lamination is an extremely common option for most signage, graphics, and other printed products; but is a necessary?
Well this question is a lot deeper than it might seem, because lamination does a few different thing!
Most people know that one of the biggest reasons to get a print laminated is to help protect it from UV damage and fading in sunlight, which is it's most popular use. Lamination greatly increases a prints life span when it is outdoors, so if you're print is going to be outside and you want it to last a while then you would want a laminate put on it!
Another thing that lamination does that many people don't think about is protecting against scratches, rubbing, and other physical interactions. If you're rubbing/cleaning your print it will eventually start taking the ink off, if you're placing a sticker on a high touch area like a phone then the ink won't last more than a month or so before serious fading occurs!
Lastly lamination is the easiest and most cost effective way to choose the sheen of your print. We carry lamination is gloss, satin, and matte. Most print materials are glossy, but materials printed on UV printers typically come out satin, so lamination is a great way to control the final appearance of your print and make sure that all of your projects match!
Lamination is usually the best route to go regardless of material or application though, it beats having the replace an entire print because of damage or fading 🤷♂️
